A lesson from Yongi Cho


I once heard,David Yongi Cho once told the story of how he used to pack his sermons full of philosophical studies ,yet wowed his audience .
He had a lady who had tirelessly but unsuccessfully tried getting her hubby to church meetings ,then eventually the man ( hubby ) showed up.
After the service ,Dr Cho was so eager to meet with the man ,and the following conversation ensued
So glad to see you sir,how did you see the service ? Asked Dr Cho
"Hmm,I had a horrible experience ,couldn't wait for you to stop ", replied the man
Why ?asked Dr Cho ,wondering maybe because he wasn't yet a Christian
"It was full of philosophy ,elementary philosophy ,I am a professor of philosophy ", the man continued
Then he gave a final comment I believe should cause any preacher think ,
" pastor ,preach from the bible ,let us face our own philosophy !"concluded the man .
In My opinion ,the last line is the takeaway .
If you know how unbelieving business men and academia laugh pastors to scorn looking at our approach to use their ideas to wow our churches ,you will stick to the words of eternal life !

1 Corinthians 2:1-2,4-5 KJV
[1] And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
[2] For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
[4] And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
[5] That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

YOUR FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD 2

For lots of believers, guilt due to wrong doings keep them away from fellowshipping with the father, they think that their running away will clear them from their guilty-conscience. Now, you have to stop running because the blood of Jesus Christ is already an overpayment for your sin, By the one offering of Himself that He has made, Jesus Christ totally sanctified  you (Heb 10:14) Doing things that correlate with the old nature is not a call to run from the father but rather a call to move closer to Him, if only you can stay with the father in fellowship,  in renewing your mind with the living word of God, then you will totally start bearing the fruits of the Spirit even for the world to see.
