John 8:12(KJV) 12[Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, ] I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
We have since seen light in our path. Its our part and lot in Christ.
Ephesians 2:10(KJV) 10[For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.]
We have a preordained life in Christ.
He is in the light and so are we.
1 John 4:17 (KJV) ... because as he is, so are we in this world.]
We have absolute light in Him.
Colossians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9[For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.] 10[And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:]
We are filled with His fullness.
Thus ,in our daily walk we can trust that we are being led of Him. Our path is His light.
This is very much evidenced In the life we have received of Him. His life is light.
1 John 1:2KJV) 2[(For the life was manifested, and we have seen ] it[, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)]
His life is the Father manifest.
1 John 1:5(KJV) 5[This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.]
In this life is no darkness at all.
We are presently and permanently possessors of the same .
1 John 5:11-12 (KJV) 11[And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.] 12[He that hath the Son hath life; ] and[ he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.]
We have His life now.
His life is His Spirit.
Romans 8:10(KJV) 10[And if Christ ] be[ in you, the body ] is[ dead because of sin; but the Spirit ] is[ life because of righteousness.]
We have His Spirit.
Romans 8:9(KJV) 9[But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.]
We are His.
Hence the proceeding verses.
Romans 8:14-16 (KJV) 14[For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.]
15[For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.]
16[The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:]
We are Led by His Spirit as we have received the same .
We thus have His witness. His evidence. His testimony. He testifies for or against.
He testifies for us. He witnesses for Light. He testifies against evil and darkness.
Many have attested to the inward witness.
The Spirit's promptings, urgings or warnings.
Their attestations aren't out of place. Since we are led by the Spirit, we have access to His revelation.
Paul prayed such for saints.
Ephesians 1:17-18 (KJV) 17[That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:]
18[The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,].
Our minds, with which we take decisions is the one in need of revelation . In this context, Paul prayed for revelation of His Word.
The Spirit reveals. He teaches.
1 Corinthians 2:12(KJV) 12[Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.]
We know because we have the Spirit.
Not intellect. He also reveals things to us in our daily lives.
Gifts of the Spirit are typical of this.
1 Corinthians 14:24-25 (KJV) 24[But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or ] one[ unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:]
25[And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on ] his[ face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.]
Secret means hidden things.
The Spirit uncovers them. This isn't scriptures rather men's hearts. Latter verses buttresses these happenstances.
1 Corinthians 14:26-27 (KJV) 26[How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation.
Let all things be done unto edifying.]
Same way we have a psalm by the Spirit,we have revelation .
The knowledge of issues, things, events- past, present and future.
1 Corinthians 14:29-30 (KJV) 29[Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.]
30[If ] any thing[ be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.]
Same thought . Revealed here refers to disclosure. It happens in church meetings.
Timothy was such exhorted.
1 Timothy 1:18-19 (KJV) 18[This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;]
Prophecies concerning him, Timothy.
This isn't prophecy of the scriptures.
But scriptural prophecies that speaks of individuals.
He recognized his gift this way.
1 Timothy 4:14(KJV) 14[Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.]
This was inspired speaking .
Spirit revelation in utterances. Paul's ministry was replete with this too.
Acts 13:2-(KJV) 2[As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.]
He spoke via inspired utterances. Though the speakers were men. They received substance from the Spirit.
Acts 16:6-7 (KJV) 6[Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,]
7[After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.]
Here we are not clear which medium this direction came . But we are undoubtedly sure He (The Spirit) must have revealed things to them .
Either via Gifts of the Spirit, or via revelation in a different way.
1 Corinthians 12:4-(KJV) 4[Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.] 7[But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.]
Paul's experiences could help.
Acts 17:16-(KJV) 16[Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.]
Stirred means provoked.
Made to do something . The Spirit in Paul stirred him. The Spirit leads us this way. This is an inward witness.
Acts 18:5(KJV) 5[And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews ] that[ Jesus ] was[ Christ.]
Pressed in the spirit. This is a witness to do something. He was urged in his spirit.
Our spirit ,when we believe is of God.
It has the Spirit of God. We trust its witness.
Paul did.
Acts 20:22(KJV) 22[And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:]
Bound in the Spirit. This means to be compelled .
It's not forceful.
Yet it's powerfully convincing. We can be urged, compelled, forbidden or stirred by The Spirit within us.
This is the inward witness .
I usually define this witness this way: The Witness of the born again spirit which endorses, refutes, warns against or clarifies facts exposed to it.
This is only so because we are in His Light. We are in the Kingdom of Light. Our Spirit is lit up at salvation.
And forever is.
We often encounter difficulty recognizing this witness when our mind isn't sufficiently renewed in His word. Thus we must feed our mind with the Word.
Romans 12:2-(KJV) 2[And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what ] is[ that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.]
The word prove here means to attest to, to recognize.
When we renew our minds, it can listen to and recognize the witness of the Spirit, This witness is the will of God. Some have called it a hunch.
Others say intuitions. Much more than these, it's the witness of the Spirit of a saved man in Christ.
We renew our minds by mediation in the Word.
1 Timothy 4:15(KJV) 15[Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.]
This witness will bear evidence with the fruit of the Spirit(Galatians 5:22-23).
It's never fear.
2 Timothy 1:7(KJV) 7[For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.]
He will never lead with fear.
1 Corinthians 14:33-(KJV) 33[For God is not ] the author[ of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.]
Neither by confusion. Disharmony.
He leads and the fruit of His Spirit in us bears witness.
Peace is such.
Philippians 4:7(KJV) 7[And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.]
A version says the Peace of God like an umpire in the soul with guard you in your mind.
This is true. We are sure and confident that He leads us. We know we are led by His Spirit.
We are. We shall always be. This is so for we have left the path of confusion .
We stay and abide In His Light, We have the inward witness of the Spirit of God in us.
Blessed? We know ,recognize and follow the witness of The Spirit.
We walk in His Light.
Jesus is Lord, We Win!
