Under the law, the people of God
had but limited access to God’s
presence due to the their unrighteousness, in fact, they couldn’t access God’s presence except by the means
of a representatives i.e. the priests and they even had a special
representative who was the high priest, only the high priest had access to the
inner court of the temple (holiest) which was most reverenced only once in a
year (Heb 9:1-7) to atone for His own sin and the sin of the people by the
blood of goats and lambs.
However in the new covenant, Christ
being our high priest of better things, He obtained eternal redemption for us,
once and for all by entering into the Holies not by the blood of animals but by
His own blood (Heb 9:12, 10:12), because the blood of animals could never have
taken away sin (Heb 10:4,8,11), but only covered them this is why the same
sacrifice had to be repeatedly done each year, hence the need to take away the
law and establish a new covenant of better promises (Heb 10:9)
The sacrifice of Himself that Jesus
Christ has offered has alone sanctified us and there is no need whatsoever to
repeat any sacrifice in whatever form because the blood of Jesus dealt with sin
once and for all (Heb 10:10,14). By virtue of Christ offering of Himself for
us, we are once and for all purified forever (Heb 10:14), we therefore do not
have any fear whatsoever in the presence of our father
The inner court of the temple
symbolized the presence of God in the heavens, Our high priest made the way for
us to have access to the presence of the father by making us righteous and
sanctifying us, so we have all boldness also to enter into the heavens enter to
offer our spiritual worship and our prayers right in the presence of our father
(Heb 10:19) without anyone doing it for us or on our behalf but in person
because the sin has been removed from the sight of God and has also been purged
from our conscience (Heb 10:17).
We can now behold his glory in
heaven by dwelling in His presence while offering our spiritual worship (Rom
12:1, John4:24) for our spirit has now become the temple of God, and the
offering of our bodies (spirit) is our reasonable service to the father, our
boldness and liberty is not of pride but it is as a result of the overpayment
for our sin that Jesus Christ made.
All glory be to God because we can
now minister directly unto our God in spiritual worship (Rev 1:6, 5:12), but
the question is how often do you minister to the father, you should do this
daily because that is what you are made
for.
